Business Degrees & Online Programs

Are you interested in a career in the world of business? Do you think you have what it takes to make solid decisions that will positively affect a company? Have you already realized how many factors go into efficiently operating a business on a daily basis? Is it your goal to open your own business or to manage someone else's larger scale company? If you answered these questions with a resounding yes, then a degree in business is sure to suit you and your aspirations well. It is important to note that while an associate's level degree will prepare you for entry-level positions in the business world, in order to be qualified for upper-level positions you will need to complete a bachelor's level degree or a graduate level degree. It is common for most universities to offer several degree levels for students who plan to work in the field of business. Due to the fact that the majority of course requirements for a business degree program are classroom based, instruction type courses, many students choose to pursue their degree in an online learning format.

Program Description

Should you decide to pursue an associate's level degree you will be able to choose between an Associate of Applied Science degree with a focus in business management, an Associate in Business, or an Associate of Science in business administration. Since an associate's level degree will only require about two years of course work to complete, you can expect your classes to give you an overview of business topics. In addition to learning about a variety of business topics, you will also want to choose an area of concentration, such as labor relations, management, business communications,or marketing. If you would rather complete a bachelor's level degree you can expect it to take approximately four years for you to complete. You can expect a bachelor's level degree program to teach you about business techniques and theories that relate to our global market, human resources, business operations, and business management. Depending upon your school of choice you may be able to choose an area of concentration, such as marketing, finance, or accounting. Your curriculum will consist of courses that will be designed to teach you about the legal systems, economic issues, and social factors that contribute to a business's operation. It is likely that you will be required to complete classes such as business ethics, business statistics, and marketing principles.

Once you have completed your educational degree requirements you will be qualified for employment in any number of areas. For example, you would be able to work with a non-profit organization, in a small business, within specific governmental agencies, or at a large corporation. Keep in mind, for some areas of business you may be required to obtain a specific certification that attests to your skills and knowledge level. It will be a good idea to check into the specific requirements as mandated by your state of residence, so that you are aware of the appropriate steps you will need to complete.
