This is a career which requires someone who can keep their composure. X-ray technicians often have to deal with patients who are physical immobilized due to injury, illness, or old age. Some of them may even be uncooperative so it would be your job to keep them calm. One of the golden rules behind being an x-ray technician is that he or she is not able to discuss any of their findings with the patient.

A skilled technician may be able to identify the problems associated with the patient but it is the job of the doctor to tell them. Being an x-ray technician has its share of risks. For example, by frequently being exposed to x-rays, there is a heightened chance of developing several different kinds of caners. However, this risk can be minimized by following the safety precautions associated with the position.

You can also learn a great deal of information from technical institutes. There are also various branches of the military which offer the opportunity to become an x-ray technician.

How long would it take you to become a certified x-ray technician? Well, it really depends on how quickly you are able to complete the training. A person can generally complete the training programs in less than a year and receive a certification. You also have the option of completing a two year program and receiving an Associate's degree or completing a four year program and receiving a Bachelor's degree.

Salary Possibilities
